A Massive Increase in Democratic Voters for Governor

Nearly 800,000 Democratic voters cast a ballot for governor in this week’s primary, an increase of more than 50% from 2017, the last Democratic gubernatorial primary without an incumbent. Mikie Sherrill’s vote total was also higher than Phil Murphy’s in 2017, although Murphy received a higher share of the vote.
